Cycling

Cycling is the activity where I lost a huge amount of weight.  Cycling is how I imagine I'll continue to drop weight.

I bought my first bike in October of 2010.  It was a flat handled road bike, a Fuji.  I bought it new for about $300.  I lost about 40 pounds on that bike, but soon found the need for a faster, better built bike.  I put 5,000 miles on my Fuji Roubaix 2.0, went through a set of wheels on it in 9 month's time.  I rode that thing like crazy, finishing El Tour de Tucson in 5:48 in 2011.

I love riding, especially with others.  I love the distances covered and in some ways the looks on people's faces when I tell them I rode 128 miles today.

Cycling is a great family activity and fantastic exercise.  The injury rate is so much lower than running, and in fact injuries are often when attract runners to riding.

The element of cycling giving it an edge over running is the machine itself, the bicycle.

The element of cycling giving running an edge over cycling is the machine itself, the bicycle.

As my cousin put it, "People invented the bike because running sucks.  But sometimes the bicycle itself sucks worse."

As you can probably tell, I'm just filling space with words at the moment.  The page will be developed in the near future.  Please check back later.
